Scott Hannant

Scott Hannant is News Director of CTV Ottawa, a position he has held for 5 years. Prior to that, he was Executive Producer of the newsroom. Scott moved in to news management after covering national politics across Canada as Senior Producer of Sunday Edition with Mike Duffy. He has called Ottawa home for 18 years. Before coming to the Capital, he has also worked as a writer and line up editor with Global News in Toronto. His first job in journalism was working as a reporter photographer with the Arab Times in Kuwait. That's where he met his Swedish wife. They have two grown children. Scott is very much involved with CTV Ottawa's diversity initiative and volunteers his time and expertise to teaching media literacy courses to local and national charities.

Grew up in Lagos Nigeria, Toronto, Ottawa and Vienna. Then moved to South Africa. Graduated from H.S. in Johannesburg. First job after school was teaching English to Air Force officer cadets in revolutionary Iran in 1978.
