Gary's blog

Gary Dimmock

Gary Dimmock is an investigative reporter with the Ottawa Citizen newspaper, where he has worked for 16 years.

He has won several awards for enterprise reporting, including the inaugural National Newspaper Award for Explanatory Work, in 2002.

He has worked for six newspapers over the years, five daily, one weekly. He has also taught  journalism on a part-time basis at Ottawa’s Algonquin College.

He has filed stories locally and across North America, covering school shootings in Taber and Dawson College, the tainted water scandal in Walkerton and from Manhattan on Sept. 11, 2001.

He has also filed from Benin, Istanbul and Doha, where he filed daily newspaper, television and radio reports on the U.S. invasion of Iraq. He is also a beginner gardener.
