Andrea Thompson graduates this year from Carleton with her degree in journalism and human rights. Her involvement with her university’s chapter of Journalists for Human Rights has fostered an intense interest in the developing world and with Africa, in particular. Right now Thompson is the location director of an NYU film on the international response to the crisis in Darfur and, along with her business partner Anna Griffin, recently formed Thorn Tree Productions. Thorn Tree’s first project “Girls Gone Pious” will look at the rising number of young women entering the convent. In Rwanda, Thompson will work with documentary company Internews.
