Marie-Jo Proulx is a native of Montreal. Before starting the Master in Journalism program at Carleton University, she worked for three years as a senior writer for Windy City Times in Chicago, where she also volunteered as an interpreter between asylum seekers and medical professionals. Prior to this, she was a French language coordinator at the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (England). Marie-Jo has a B.A. in political science from Concordia University and has studied linguistics at the graduate level at UQAM. She is particularly interested in human rights, equal representation, and health care. When in Rwanda, she hopes to research issues relating to reproductive rights.
